Site Requirements
Move-in and setup takes from 1 to 2 hours depending on the site. Most jobs will require a site secure enough to allow for our mill and other equipment to remain overnight.
We need a relatively level 50’x60’ area to set up and cut at your site. If the site is not fairly level, some dirt work may need to be done to ensure a level and plumb saw platform. Logs should be stacked and ready to load onto our mill. It is strongly desired that all logs are stacked with log taper pointing in the same direction. If you do not have log handling machinery we can provide a tracked skid steer loader for a small move-in fee. Log stacking services are available for a by the hour fee.
The Mobile Dimension Sawmill brings each finished board off the back of the mill. The sawmill is about 30 feet long. The length of the log is the length of each board it will produce, so an area just behind the mill about 10 feet longer than your longest log is required for stacking lumber.
What are the Costs?
Each job is unique, and a free on-site estimate and consultation will help determine an agreed set of costs and fees. There is wiggle room on how much and how many of these services you may need. Some basic rates and guidelines are included below:
SETUP FEE: $75.00 to move the sawmill to your location, set up, level and otherwise prepare the mill on your site. This typically takes 1 to 2 hours after initial arrival.
CUTTING FEE: We charge 40 cents per board foot for usable lumber. If a log has rot at one end, some of the rotten sections will not be included in production calculations or billing. This rate applies for all beams and dimensional cutting down to 1” thickness. If a job requires exclusively cutting thin stock dimensions less than 1” thickness a slightly higher rate may apply. Usable lumber produced will be calculated for billing If you desire only a specific amount of lumber we will be happy to stop when your needs are met. As jobs get larger the rates decrease depending on requested dimensions. Price is subject to change without notice due to fuel costs and other factors.
TOOTH FEE: A $25 Tooth Fee will be added to the bill if the saw encounters metal or other hard materials that damage the teeth. Normal wear and tear and daily sharpening of the teeth are included as normal operating costs and are not charged to the customer.
SKID STEER MOVE-IN FEE: (If required) $75 to move in a skid steer loader with both log handling and dirt work capability. There is no hourly charge for the skid steer when used to load logs from the log deck onto the mill.
SALES TAX: Washington State does not require us to charge or pay sales tax!!
ADDITIONAL SERVICES FEES: As negotiated at the time of consultation and job agreement.
PAYMENT DUE: Payment is due before the mill leaves your site. If this is not possible, partial payment may be arranged with remainder of payments due on an agreed schedule. Special agreements must be reached before milling starts.
